Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a special needs woman in my home with a constant runny nose. Allergy sprays do not stop it at all, so for the past month we have been trying ipratropium bromide. It seems to be working and is cutting down on the runny nose, but now she is burping all the time, and sometimes has heart burn.
Heartburn could be due to acid reflux induced by gastritis. For that, Rabeprazole like antacid can be prescribed.
A runny nose mostly suggestive of allergic rhinitis. Allergy testing and CBC can be done for further workup and to find causative allergen. Ipratropium Bromide used for COPD like condition and without doctor advise it is not suggested.
If allergic inflammation is more and CBC shows eosinophilia then Allegra-M like tablets can be prescribed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami,
