Hi, I have been on QUINAPRIL for years (2x20 mg) and I have gotten RUNNY NOSE all the time for several months. The ENT says there is no sinus inflamation ir allergies signs. Got a CTScan, barium test, nose sprays, salt water... I choke on my drainage... I am 86 years old and generally in good health. I read that a possibke side effect of QUINAPRIL is runny nose. Could it be the reason ?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have runny nose which is due to bacterial infection leading to strep throat along with upper respiratory tract infection. I would suggest you to take Diphenhydramine and Dextromethorphan. You should take steam inhalation. Do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Get X-Ray chest done. Drink luke warm water throughout the day as it can provide relief. You should also consult cardiologist to rule out more serious problem. Take soft foods to avoid irritation to the throat. You should avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should take you take nasal decongestant sprays, antihistamines and antibiotic combination as infection is present.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
