Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 7 year old grandson has been having staring episodes that the school nurse thinks maybe mild seizures. He has an appointment for an eeg in a few days, but these episodes have progressed to be longer and now he is losing control of his bowels and bladder when he has one. Should we wait for the appointment or take him to the emergency room when he has the next episode so we can get some answers.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Yes, you should definitely take him to emergency and get done EEG (electro encephalo gram), MRI brain and start treatment for seizures. His history is more suggestive of absence seizure. Without treatment, seizure may come again and can last longer. So better to take him to emergency room and start treatment. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your grandson. Thanks.
