What Causes Sensitivity To Smell Along With Wheezing And Cough?

I have a strong smell in my nose.It is almost to the point of gagging me. I have never smoked and no one I am around smokes either, that is what it smells like. I have asthma and recently I have had coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. Whatever that is is going around the town I live in. I can not walk very far without having to stop to catch my breath. Until the last week, I have never had that particular problem before. The smell in my nose had been off and on for a while now.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sensitivity to smell along with wheezing and cough. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like COPD symptoms , acute bronchitis , acid reflux , asthmatic condition , sleeping apnea or upper respiratory infection. Need not to worry. Avoid intake of outside food. Avoid cold, carbonated beverages. For now eat light at night , take benadryl twice a day and keep your head elevated while lying down. I would suggest you to consult pulmonologist for proper examination. Doctor may order chest x-ray, blood test and check vitals along with vitals. Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist for upper respiratory tract infection or post nasal drip or allergy specialist for asthma. Doctor may also recommend CPAP machine after sleep study .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
