Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Periodically, without knowing why, I have severe abdominal pain. It comes in waves. At the same time, I am filled with gas and burp repeatedly. My Gastrointerlogist prescribed Nexium 40 mg before breakfast and Zantac as needed. I also use Tums. And, as a last resort, I use Levsin .125 mg as prescribed. These spells last 3-4 hours and create tough discomfort. I am experiencing a spell now. I will be most grateful for any info and advice.
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Certain degree of bloating is normal but in case of excessive bloating it may be sign of food allergy, hatal hernia ,IBS or inflammatory bowel diseases. So you should continue with medications that gastroenterologist prescribedbut first try to change your dietary habits, it means: eat smaller meals but more frequently, avoid fried and spicy food, take menta tea, avoid alcohol and coffee, eat probiotics and milk products, boiled food and vegetables. Also, there are medications such as Flobian,Magnesium oxide or certain laxatives which may relieve such symptoms. If there wont be improvement then colonoscopy is definitely required.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
