What Causes Severe Anxiety, Muscle Clenching After Change Of Medicine?

Please help me. My new psychiatrist gave me Adderall for my ADHD that I have had for some time. I used to take Ritalin with no problems - but this Adderall has been a nightmare. I am in a severe depression and I cannot stop crying. It is not even working (I took it 6 hours ago) as my concentration I need for a specific task in a project is not even focused! WHY would I be stuck on Adderall when it s clearly not working and Ritalin worked just fine? I TOLD him I was fine with Ritalin - and never has this crash . Plus my muscles are clenching and I am having A SEVERE anxiety attack. Why is this happening?

You are apparently very sensitive to the Adderall and are having severe side effects. Tell your psychiatrist about these side effects and insist on being put back on Ritalin, the drug that you know works for you without side effects. I don't know why the new doctor switched to that, except doctors themselves sometimes are more familiar with one drug than another and prefer to use a specific one. The depression could be interfering with your concentration. It might be you have developed anxiety/depression unrelated to the drugs, and these may need separate treatment. But my first thought is that the change in medication precipitated this and you should stop the Adderall and go back on the Ritalin. Hope this helps.
