What Causes Severe Back Pain, Abdominal Pain And Nausea?

Woke up with severe back pain, rear leftt under ribs...nauseas also an hour ago I have had a bad stomach, mild nausea for two weeks. I am drinking water now...pain a bit better....my question...shall I go for tests to ER tomorrow.,,or rest and drink water. Should I assume this might be a kidneybstone? I did go into our ER perhaps four years ago with unknown severe pain ...tests were taken, nothing seen...told i might have passed a stone. Pain was gone by the time i left hospital.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to HCM. I am sorry to hear about your condition. I would recommend that you visit the emergency department immediately. It is not safe to assume that it is a kidney stone small enough that it will pass on its own.
They will investigate you properly in the ER. If it happens to be a small kidney stone that passes on its own then you lose nothing and come home but if it is a big kidney stone or something else, then by going to the ER you are saving yourself from a lot of trouble.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact if you have any further questions.

sincerely,
Dr. Waqas Hayat.
