What Causes Severe Chills And Constant Headache?

Hi: Came home from shopping at 5:00PM on Fri--felt fine--half hour later had the chills so bad that I put on three jackets to try and warm up--severe explosive type headache--body aches--took 2 aspirin--went to bed with heavy blankets and was able to sleep a bit. Yesterday (Sat) had severe headache but not chills. Today (Sun) still have the headache and body aches but not as severe. I take 2 Aspirin every four hours. I am male 79 years old and in good health otherwise. Thank you in advance for any suggestions. YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to any systemic infection, and if symptoms persist may need blood work up with complete blood counts as well as Inflammatory markers.

If temperature spikes persist blood cultures and antibiotics may be needed. Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
