What Causes Severe Chills With Uncontrollable Shivering?

I had a very cold feeling come over my entire body. I started shivering uncontrollably. Even my teeth were chattering. I ate a small bowl of chicken noodle soup to warm up. This didn t help. I wapped up in a blanket. I had a pain across the back of my neck. Then my head felt like it would explode. I took 4 ibprozen and a glass of water. This shaking continued for approx 45min to an hour before I finally fell asleep. When I woke up my chest hurt a little but the shaking stopped. I am still feeling a little strange this morning.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You can have a sudden viral infection in the body causing fever and chills with muscle pain.

You can take Paracetamol for fever and headache.

If no improvement in 1-2 days than CBC should be done for further workup.

If your chest pain associated with shoulder or arm reffered pain than EKG needs to be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
