Hello,
Constipation during pregnancy due to hormones that relax the intestinal muscle and by pressure of the expanding uterus on the intestines and the relaxation of the intestinal muscle causes food and wast to move slower through your system. Another factor including worry, anxiety, minimal physical exercise and a low fiber diet and sometime iron tablets also cause constipation.
Make sure your body have enough water by drinking plenty of fluids, drink 10 to 12 cups of fluids each day. It is the combination of high fiber diet and plenty of liquids that best help you eliminate your wast. Sweat, hot climates and exercise may increase your need for additional fluids. I feel sorry for your nausea and
vomiting that difficult for you to eat and drink but make sure you discuss with your doctor about how to use medicine properly to reduce your symptom of nausea and vomiting.
For my practice, patient who have a
severe nausea and vomiting I recommend to use
Ondansetron orally before meal every morning to help to reduce nausea and vomiting. Talk to your doctor about iron medicine if you don't need iron just stop to take it because it can cause your constipation.
Magnesium and colace is for severe constipation with present of stool impact and it is good for
stool softener in pregnancy but make sure that you are re-hydration. But the best treatment are drinking plenty of water and fiber diet an be active.
Laxative pills for constipation is not recommended for the treatment of constipation during pregnancy because they might stimulate uterine contraction and cause
dehydration. Mineral oils should not be used during pregnancy because they reduce nutrient absorption.
Talk to your doctor before you using any medicine. Follow up with your doctor for your DVT need to make sure your PT/INR is goal of treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
