What Causes Severe Cough And Rash On The Shin While On Valsartan?

I have been taking valsartan/hydraclorathiazide for high blood pressure for 2 years. it has managed my blood pressure very well, how ever I am experiencing severe coughing and a rash on my shins. I went to an ENT because I had a sinus infection. He seems to think I am allergic to the valsartan. I ve had the symptoms just mentioned for a little over 8 mo.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an allergic reaction to Valsartan.

I recommend consulting your doctor about an alternative medication.

I also recommend using antihistamines daily such as Levocetirizine to relieve the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
