Hi, I ve just returned home from my Dr s. I ve had earache in my right ear for 14 days. I was told today the my right ear had been bleeding, not now but my ear drum is bruised. I m having a cats scan Monday.i banged my head very badly at the beginning of the month. I was wondering what treatment can be done. I would appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks Dee
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe ear ache which seems to be due to rupturing of ear drum leading to perforation and it could be due to ear infection , injury due q-tip or loud sound. Need not to worry. You should do warm saline gargles and apply dry warm compresses to external ear and keep your ear dry , which is very important. You should take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay so that infection will not spread. Doctor may examine ear with otoscope , also examine tympanic membrane or may order CT scan. Doctor may prescribe antibiotic course at least for 10 days along with anti inflammatory and decongestants. Doctor may also recommend tympanoplasty in case of eardrum rupture .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
