my daughter is 16 yrs old never had issues with her ears. today when i got home from work she said her left ear hurt really bad. not like her. so i took her temp. she doesnt have one its normal. so i put a warm compress on her ear and she said it made it feel better. should i just watch it for the next day or so. i also gave her ipurphen. am i doing things right or is there something else i can do to help her.

In that case she should be checked clinically and for this you should consult an Emergency room and get her checked. An Otoscopic examination can be done for confirmation.
She can be advised a course of oral antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers like Motrin and along with it antibiotic ear drops can be advised.
If needed manual cleaning of ear can be done professionally.
