What Causes Severe Fatigue After Having Food?

For the past few months After I eat right away I have a weird feeling all over and have major fatigue, sometimes clamy. It lasts for a few hours. It was not at every meal but the last week or so it seems to be more frequent..I did buy a glucometer to check my sugar a few days ago..Should I check it after fasting for 8 hours in the morning and also after Ineat and feel bad? My last bloodwork was Feb 2015 and my A1c was .5.9.. thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Eating causes blood sugar to rise, and a dip in energy may follow.

Other factors can contribute to tiredness after eating such as poor sleep at night.

I suggest having a healthy lifestyle.

I also suggest measuring regularly blood sugar.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
