Hello,
Some of the most common side effects of
lisinopril (depending upon the specific preparation) are:
cough, dizziness,
drowsiness, headache,
depression, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach, and mild skin itching or rash.
Other symptoms to the body as a whole include Fatigue, asthenia, orthostatic effects (dizziness or feelings of faintness). Also, depressed mood,
hallucinations, and confusion have been reported.
With respect to
shortness of breath there is a known side effect of SIADH which causes the release of a chemical substance that causes the body to RETAIN FLUID.
Although not terribly likely as the immediate cause of your shortness of breath there could be an accumulation of fluid buildup in your heart and/or lungs because of this unexpected shift in fluid volumes due to the drug. This is rare.
Since you are reporting these symptoms related to the start of this medications within the past 2 weeks I would definitely have a talk with the doctor and alert them to what's going on. I'm sure they will want to take some action.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Dariush Saghafi, Neurologist
