Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my father is being treated for staph infection with Ceftriaxone 2gm/100mi NS ECLIPSE PUMP and has two more days of treatment. I saw him tonight first time in a week and he looks horrible and very weak and extremely tired all the time. is this caused by the medication?
“As” per your question I may say that he is taking right now ceftriaxone which is an antibiotic and for his infection it is a good antibiotic which customarily we prescribe to our patients in day to day life. But fatigue is not due to it so consummate full course of antibiotic as per your treating doctor's advice. For fatigue check iron and B complex deficiency and if present give injectable medications. If blood pressure is low give IV drip to rectify it.
So nothing to be apprehensive for it.
Hope that helps
