What Causes Severe Fatigue While On Clonazepam, Lexapro And Trileptal?

My mother has been taking Risperdone, Clonazepam, Lexapro and Trileptal. She is very anxious and has a tremor. Her dr. won t decrease her meds. She is very tired most of the time and can t function. What should I do? I have been looking for a new dr. but haven t been able to find a geriatric psychiatrist who lives near her

Hello,

The medications your mother is taking may cause fatigue as a common side effect so it is possible she has this fatigue due to the medications she is using.

On the other hand, other causes should be considered as well. If she has not had a CBC, TSH and metabolic profile test (liver function, kidney function tests, glucose, lipids, etc) in the last 2 years, it is advisable that she has these first and if they come out normal then the side effect of the medications is the most likely cause.
