Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on synthroid for over 40 years. My synthroid dose has been recently increased from 150 to 175 and now 200. this has been over a 6 month period. My TSH is 0.444 , T3 39 T4 2.09 free, and thyroxine T4 is 11.2 . MD just told me to take the 200 6 days a week and will redo labs in 6 weeks. I sleep 12 hours a night and am fatigued all the time. It seems you are having a quick increase in Synthroid dose and your TSH level is 0.444. The lowest normal level for TSH is 0.5 so you seem to be a little less than the lower limit. Probably you are having a higher dose of Synthroid than needed and in this case you might also experience fatigue but also heart pounding, diarrhea, anxiety, etc. Please do not do any changes of doses your self but talk to your doctor and tell him your symptoms and discuss on the level of TSH in blood and dose of Synthroid that is good for you. It is your doctor who should evaluate this and decide on it. Anemia also can cause you to be fatigued. have you ever checked the CBC to rule out anemia? If you have not had a CBC done in the last year, this might be a good chance to have it done. ERS is generally a tests that is also done with CBC.
I hope this is helpful and answers to your question but please feel free to let me know if anymore concerns related to this.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
