General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Any chronic long illness like severe anaemia, chronic cough, low thyroid level, nutritional deficiency (low intake, less digestion or absorption, debilitating disease like TB or heart disease due to blockage of blood vessels supplying heart can cause complaints like you.
Sometimes malignancy can be the cause. You have a family history of thyroid disease. You have been given thyroid medication without any benefit. I feel the dose can be low OR it's the wrong diagnosis.
*You need to get thyroid function tests done to find/exclude thyroid problem. Followed by suitable medicine in optimum dose.
*I would also advise an extensive medical check-up & needful investigations to have confirmed diagnosis followed by specific management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
