What Causes Severe Flushing With Itching On Back, Neck And Scalp At Night?
Ohhh ... every night I wake with a mega flush, and the itching starts on my back, neck, and head. A good night s sleep is a thing of the past ... if I wake up during the night ... that s it ! It takes half an hour to cool down, and then I m wide awake. Is there anybody out there with the same problem. I m desperate for answers !!
Hello and welcome to HCM, History of flushes, itching on back, neck and head are suggestive of some allergic phenomenon. Is there any history of allergy to any food item or environmental agent or are these symptoms occurring after eating any specific food item or after exposure to any particular environmental agent? Has the overlying skin developed redness, hives or rashes? The cause of the symptoms needs to be sought out to plan definitive treatment. Symptomatic treatment consists of anti-histaminic preparation and local application of a soothing emollient. These drugs should be taken after prescription by a doctor to alleviate the symptoms. However, definitive management can be done when a definitive diagnosis is made.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
