Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Foot Pain After Taking Morphine?
63 year old veteran with Pancreatic cancer that has reportedly spread after one treatment of chemotheraphy, now with severe foot pain initially treated with morphine. Toes one one leg appear to be discolored. Do you recommend amputation of that leg due to the circulations issues or are there other options available?
I see from the medical history that this patient is really in a critical stage. If the patient can still walk, then, should run some EMG and conductory studies, doppler ultrasound of the blood vessels of your lower extremities to evaluate the status of circulation and function of muscles and nerves.
After evaluating all the results, we can decide if amputation is the best choice for this patient. So, first determine the right diagnosis, then, determine the best treatment options.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
All the best and God bless you!
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
