What Causes Severe Headache And Chest Pain After Exposure To Diesel Fumes?

I am a public school bus aid. I was gravely affected by the diesel fuel fumes last Thursday. I have environmental and chemical sensitivity. Mechanic informed me that particular bus has a blow-back fume problem. Meaning the fumes will be pushed into the bus, fill it with CM. Experienced sever headache, achey neck, shoulders, chest pain, calf and knee caps. Since then in the following days still have chest pain, right under arm pain (whick feels like plurosi (s), which I have had. Still experiencing confusion and waves of headaches. Appetite not back to normal. Please, what should I be doing ?

Hi,

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you need to get EKG and chest x-ray to rule out any heart or lung-related complications of organic fumes.

Oxygen saturation and arterial blood gas may be needed which can also rule out any metabolic derangement causing acid excess.

Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen and good hydration can be helpful.
