What Causes Severe Headache During Menopause?

My sister recently died, I have never suffered from a severe headache, I ve had headaches when I was younger due to a smell or a normal headache. I ve gotten upset twice in the last week and I believe I ve gotten migraines. The pain is excruciating. I m also 50 and believe I m starting menopause. Any idea if it could be from stress? Thank you

Hello!

Thank you for your question on HCM! I appreciate your concern.

I think that this may be tension type headache or a headache caused by high blood pressure.

I would like to know if you have measured your blood pressure during these episodes of headache.

I would not exclude migraine too, but
It is not usually triggered by anxiety or emotions.

I recommend you to monitor your blood pressure regularly and have a routine blood test for inflammation.

If normal tests I would recommend you to start on an antidepressant which will be helpful for the headache and your emotional state.

Hope to have been helpful!
Greetings!
Dr. Aida
