What Causes Severe Headaches After Choking On Food?

I was choking on a muffin and for what seemed like forever I was unable to get any air. I tried drinking water thinking it would push the muffin down but it immediately came out of my nose. I am ok now but got a really bad headache afterwards. Is this cause for concern do I need to seek medical attention?

Hi,

Some times food may lodge to the maxillary sinus due to forced regulations while choking. This food causes irritation of nasal mucosa that in turn precepitates in the form of acute headache. In case the headache remains persistent and increase in its intensity is concerned, you may need to consult a general physician for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
