What Causes Severe Headaches Along With Body Imbalance?

I was and am still having times like I have no balance and walking like I am drunk, I drop things all the time, I get these bad headackes over my right eye and it will swell up where the eyebrow is. If I don t write something down when I think about it, I forget it completely. I had a MRI done on my brain yesterday, and was told today that I have artery blockage, and about the only thing that can be done for it is physchail therapy, they are setting up an appointment for the evaluation. What I want to know is where is this going to lead to later, is it going to continue to get worse, just what can I expect. I am 76 years old.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

By what you explain you very likely had a stroke that has caused blockage of the artery, resulting in the symptoms you are having.
It is important to treat the cause of stroke which can be an irregular heartbeat or plaques in the carotid arteries (in the neck).

After investigations are done and the cause treated, there is a reduced risk for stroke to recur. It is important though to do the regular follow-ups and follow the recommendations of the doctor, the physiotherapy included.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj
