What Causes Severe Headaches Along With Difficulty To Concentrate On Work?

I suffered from a grade 2 concussion a few months ago, after getting hit with a lacrosse ball and after about two weeks I was cleared to play in contact sports again. I was fine until a few days ago when I started a new job in a hospital, mostly doing clerical work. I ve been getting really bad headaches and I don t know what to do because I ve take Advil which doesn t work and normally does. I have difficulty concentrating and looking at all these numbers and files all day really bothers my head. I d love to know what is causing this and if it is anything to be alarmed about.

Hello,

Since you have a history of concussion, headache and lack of concentration can be on behalf of it. Other medical conditions that cause lack of concentration are tiredness and emotional stress, brain injury, anxiety, sleep disorders, bipolar disorders, addictions like smoking, alcohol, drug abuse, etc.

Headache can be due to some internal injury, tension headache, migraine, etc. You can take Acetaminophen or Naproxen, one SOS when there's pain for relief. To avoid concentration problems, cut on addictions if any, take adequate sleep, avoid stress (physical and emotional). You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP / neurologist, get blood tests, nerve conduction tests, nerve biopsy, imaging tests done to detect any internal injury, fractures or any other pathology that may cause you discomfort.

Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and your clinical condition. In the meantime, take food rich in vitamin B6, B12, vitamin E or supplements.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
