Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 15 year old son is suffering from head aches that keep him awake off and on all night. He tells me that his scalp/head is sensitive if I touch it (like to put my hand on his forehead to check for a fever) He has had about half a dozen migraine type head aches during the day since he started high school last year. Tonight he said he feels like he is very concerned and worried about school however he has nothing to be concerned about. I am very worried about and for him. I took him to a for a psych. eval. last year due to the number of days he was missing school. They concluded that he was just fine. When he told me he was up all night last night I wasn t sure if I believed him. So when he went to bed last night I told him to wake me up whenever he could not sleep. He is telling the truth. He has been awake off and on all night long. Because head aches are difficult to diagnose I was told by my doctor to rule out any issues with his eye sight which I did just last week. He sees better than 20/20, I am with Kaiser. Should I strongly suggest that he be sent to a specialist?

What Causes Severe Headaches And Sensitive Scalp?
Hello, As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
