What Causes Severe Headaches And Tension In Jaw?

I am a 58 yr. old female with a very healthy lifestyle. I have had an intermittant headache for about 2 weeks, worse at times. The headache feels like a sinous headache, but mostly in the back. I have tension in my jaw. Also, the last few days I am in bed no energy, feeling fever and chills though the thermometer reads normal or up to 99.5. I feel nausous, am not very hungry, and am coughing and a couple of days ago I had heart fluttering pretty consistent for 2 days. I have had irregular heartbeat all my life, but never this much.

Hello dear,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com. You have described your symptomatology in great detail. It is very clear that you are having the classical features of 'Tension type headache'(TTH) along with 'anxiety'.TTH is characterized by the following features-

Pain at the back of the head and neck along with the tightness of jaw.Anxiety frequently accompanies TTH.

So,my advise is to do mental relaxation exercises/yoga/pranayama on regular basis. It will surely be of help.Regarding drug therapy for now, please start tab. amitriptyline 10 mg once a day at bedtime.PLEASE TAKE MEDICINES UNDER A PHYSICIAN'S GUIDANCE.I hope it helps.
