What Causes Severe Headaches?

I am suffering from headaches daily, just recently I have been having head ache pain in the front of my head and it feels like someone is pouring cold water inside of my head. This new feeling has frightened me and I plan to schedule an appointment with my doctor.

Thanks for contacting with your health concern and because a headache is not a disease but symptom of an underlying disease or condition thus without being able to examine you directly, I'm of the following opinion:

1. since the brain has no pain receptors, thus headache is commonly due to pathology in pain-sensitive structures around the brain and since headache is of recent onset thus it could be "a tension headache" due to muscle tightness [work or lifestyle related] caused due to tension like Stress, Anxiety, Depression or because of associated contributory factor like bad posture, working or sitting in one position or in an awkward way.

2. It is recommended that as a routine one must test the following signs [so kindly have a health checkup, at your nearest Hospital or Clinic] for the following:
i. Blood Pressure for Hypertension.
ii. Sinus Tenderness over maxillary & frontal sinuses, and look for any focus of infection in teeth, tonsils & ears.
iii. tenderness on the nape of neck or pain on neck movements.
iv. if associated fever, check for neck stiffness.
v. Check eyesight for any refractive error and blood sugar for low glucose in the blood.

PS If there is any neurological sign found by General Physician he may refer you to Neurologist opinion for further line of treatment and management.
