What Causes Severe Itching In Body Despite Taking Permethrin Lotion For Scabies?

Hello Doctor I have been diagnosed with scabies one week before and I have had my first treatment of permethrin lotion and I have also been suggested to apply crotovate cream daily if itching persists. But my itching is going worse day by day and I am having alot of sleepless night. I am sweating alot at night is that s why I am having so much itching? Please suggest some medications I want yo get rid of this as fast as possible. I even bath daily with anti- scab soap but still itching has not reduced and I cannot control it especially during the night.

Hi,

Such severe allergy in skin can be either due to allergy or fungal infection, apart from scabies. If it is non responding scabies, your doctor would add oral medication to local application. In case of allergy, preventing allergen and anti-allergic medicine is indicated.

In case of fungal infection, you would need specific treatment like local ointments, oral antifungal drugs along with local medicine. Physical examination by an expert dermatologists supported by skin scraping microscopic test would help you.
