What Causes Severe Itchy Bumps At Random Places On The Body?

Insect bites initially look like a mosquito bite. Soon swell and separate into 3 bumps. Extremely itchy and surrounding area swells, lymph nodes become swollen and painful. Not aware of when bites occur but they have come up about 7 times in 14 weeks. Doctors have no explanation. Pathology report from Biopsy done 2 weeks ago said unspecified insect bite. Had house professionally inspected- no fleas, bedbugs, or spiders found. One more thing to note is that they appear on different parts of body and while I am at different locations. Any suggestions on what I can do to find out what this is? PLEASE??

Hi,

As per your complain severe itchy bumps at different places of body that swell and itch along with swollen lymph nodes can be due to causes like allergic reaction to any food or medication or can also be due to any skin cosmetic, bug bite, poison ivy etc.

It can also be due to bacterial infection causing hair follicle infection or Folliculitis. I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like RAST test, Patch test, Food challenge test and also microscopic examination of scrapings from the lesion can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.

In case of allergic reaction you can be given oral anti allergics like Allegra or Levocetrizine along with topical steroids. Doing cool compresses can help. In case of Folliculitis oral and topical antibiotics can be advised.
