Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 8 year old says his jaw hurts severely. We brush twice a day and I even still brush for him when he's done. He has an appointment for cleaning in two weeks. Never had a cavity. He had sealants at his last visit in January. He swims a lot. Should I have his ears checked? Take him to a dentist?
As per your query your son is having pain in jaw . Well there can be many reasons for pain in jaw . It could be because of TMJ (temporomandibular joint )problem or due to bruxism that is clenching of teeth at night . Due to clenching of teeth at night jaw begins to pain and pain radiates to other parts also like head and neck . It could also possible that the tooth with sealent get infected due to leakage of borders of sealent . I would suggest you to consult dentist for proper evaluation of the condition . Doctor may examine physically or order tests X-ray of tooth , Ct scan or MRI of TMJ . Doctor may consider refilling of tooth or may give night guard to you son along with muscle relaxants .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
