What Causes Severe Migraine?

Trying to figure out what is causing my severe migraine, it has a gradual onset and goes away when I sleep. Migraine has been active for 2 months, with no relief. This is causing depression and changes in mood. I am also having a sharp/ poking pain on the front right side of my throat, and also in the center of my throat. Finally, I am also having pain in my chest, around my sternum that has been going on since the start of the year. There has been an added amount of stress at home and work, but no matter what my doctor has given me, it doesn t go away. I have had x-rays, EKG s, I have gone to the ER for the chest pain and I have seen a osteopathic manipulative medicine doctor. Nothing has alleviated the pain and discomfort and everything has gotten worse throughout the year.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It seems from the history that you are having a migraine and a history of repeated injuries to the head.

My response to your question is as below. The presence of these symptoms requires evaluation to rule out concussion injury to the brain by investigations like CT scan.

Once it is ruled out treatment for migraine and the underlying cause is required. Hence I advise you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
