What Causes Severe Muscle Pain While Changing From Crestor To Rosuvastatin?

I recently changed from Crestor to rosuvastatin, after about 45 days of taking I have noticed increasing muscle pain. I have been on it for 120 days now with increasing muscle pain. I did not notice pain on the Crestor . Is it possible to have side effects on the generic form of a drug that were not present on the original.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
No, this is not possible. Rosuvastatin causes muscle pain as a side effect. This is very common with rosuvastatin. Both crestor and generic version cause this. But this is seen in early stage of treatment and will spontaneously resolve on continued use.
Crestor is the most effective medicine for treatment of high cholesterol level. Crestor will bring down LDL level which is bad cholesterol. Besides this, there are lifestyle and dietary changes which can bring down you cholesterol level.
Advice

5.     Avoid eating high energy foods such as cakes, chocolates, chips etc.
6.     Avoid alcohol and smoking
7.     Increase consumption of high fiber diet such as wheat bread, dry date, and vegetables
