What Causes Severe Nausea And Weakness After Taking Bactrim?

Hi. Ok, thank you. I am currently so sick! I had developed a UTI last week and today the gyn gave me Bactim. I took ONE pill and have been so nauseous, weak and "on the toilet" ever since!! I won't be taking the second one prescribed after dinner!! I will call the gyn tomorrow for an alternative, but want to be prepared when they offer another drug. What are some good alternatives? Thanks.

Hello, I really appreciate your concern. Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea are common side effects of Bactrim. So I advise you to discontinue bactrim. You can use Norfloxacin as an alternative to bactrim. It is highly efficient for urinary tract infection. For replacement of fluid lost due to diarrhea, you should drink oral rehydration solution in stead of plain water. Have curd in your meals. You can prepare rehydration solution at home by mixing 1 liter of water, 1 pinch of salt and 1 scoop of sugar.
