General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The very first thing is to run a few diagnostic tests :
- complete blood count to rule out anemia
- kidney/liver/pancreas function test to rule out related problems
- diabetes testing to rule out drops or peaks in blood sugar levels especially at night
- electrolyte balance for possible deficiencies
- thyroid function test (common at your mom's age)
- plus we need to evaluate the intake of any medications used on daily basis.

After evaluating the results, we can decide for best treatment strategy.
For the moment, I can only suggest to give her magnesium and vit.D, calcium supplement. And to drink plenty of fluids especially plain water and fresh squeezed fruit juice.

All the best.
