What Causes Severe Pain In Left Hip Post Hip Replacement?

Greetings I am age 69 and a retired RN. I had a bacterial infection in 2006. Surgeon clean out the area and put a rod on each side of my spine. I was in nursing management at that time so was able to return to work using a cane. Recently I have been having pretty severe pain in my left hip and it is difficult to walk with one cane. Oh I did have a THR on my right hip but currently it is my left hip giving me problems. I will be making an appointment with my spine physician as well as the physician that did my hip replacement. I am aware I need xrays and a physician to diagnose but I will like a little insite on this situation. I am aware that you cannot diagnose over the line but I am anxious and would like to read or do some research myself. I am aware I am not a physician but it is comforting for me to research and this always makes my anxiety better. I hope to hear for you and I thank you in advance. Mrs. Joey Schriefer Please do not tell me to follow up with my appointment and that is it. I will follow up with making my appointment but I would like more information. Thanks.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Pain in left hip is may to be associated with previous spine issue. The pain may be due to nerve compression with is supplying the left hip region. Pathology of the hip joint like osteoarthritis can also be the cause of pain. An X-ray of left hip joint will help to determine the pathology of hip joint. Further investigations can be planned thereafter.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
