Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an episode earlier where I went to reach down to plug in a light and I immediately experienced severe abdominal pain on my left side. It felt as if something large was trying to get through a small opening and this sensation, with intense pain associated with it, move around in that general area. This happened a week ago on my right upper abdomen. Same circumstance, except that I was sitting in a car and reach to the floor to get something our of my purse. This pain last for about 15 minutes, intense and then it subsides. Afterwards, the area affected is extremely sore. Do you have any ideas as to what this might be?
Hello this is dr.Subhadeep.thanks for the opportunity to help you.
before answering your question properly kindly tell me if you are overweight?
yours is a classic case of muscle spasm due to stretching of muscles.you can apply muscle relaxant creams or sprays when this happens.just keep an observation if some swelling arises above the abdominal wall while straining or coughing.rarely u can have ventral hernia due to weak abdominal wall.chances of spasm or hernia are much more in obesity.
kindly get an USG abdomen to rule out any intraabdominal pathology and any ventral hernia.if hernia there and you are having pain then contact your dr.regarding elective surgery for hernia.
kindly let me know if the consultation was helpful.
Regards
