What Causes Severe Pain In Right Groin And Right Leg?
I have played hockey professionally until the age of 25. I was diagnosed with Non-Hotchkins Lymphoma about 4 years ago. I have been in remission for almost a year now but live with Severe Chronic pain in my right groin and down the front of my right leg. I know the lymph node that was affected was in the right groin area and was putting great pressure on my femoral nerve. I have such debilitating pain its very difficult to live a functional life.
There are a number of possibilities. The pain could be coming from your hip joint. The chemotherapy that you were on for your NHL can affect the blood supply to the hip and cause arthritis. You are right that this pain could be as a result of scarring around the femoral nerve. A physical examination by your doctor should help to identify where the pain is coming from. Additional tests like a Hip Xray, nerve conduction studies, an MRI scan of your lower spine may be required to confirm he diagnosis. Treatment for either issue usually would start with medication such as an anti-inflammatory drug for the hip pain and a neuromodulating drug such as gabapentin if the pain was coming from the nerve.
