Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain In The Incision Site After Knee Replacement Surgery?
I had knee replacement surgery in January. All was going well until yesterday. I suddenly had excruciating pain above the replacement site. My surgeon identified it as a spontaneous hematoma. He attempted to drain the blood, but finally gave up saying that the blood must have clotted. By the way, I am on warfarin (for life). Any thoughts or suggestions (cause, remedy, etc.)?
The hematoma he resolved by it own. He could not get it drained because it has clogged. As of now, you can take analgesics like Ibuprofen or Tramadol for pain relief. If symptoms are very much severe, you can go for an MRI scan to assess the extent and severity.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
