Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain In The Thighs After A Hip Replacement Surgery?
I have had hip replacement but still experience the same pain as before surgery. It is a sharp quick pain in the front of my thigh. Happens if I m standing still for a few minutes and then make an attempt to move. Also occurs if I m bent over, loading the dishwasher. When I straighten up, the pain occurs. Thanks for your opinion.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The pain is either neurological or muscular in origin or a combination of both.
There is usually some minor nerve injury in any surgery because nerves in the skin area would have to be cut during surgery. Damage to these nerves can cause pain or other abnormal sensations.
The pain with movement, however, is more associated with muscle related pain.
It would be best to be reassessed by your doctor.
I hope this helps.
