Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain, Swelling And Fluid Discharge From Knee Post An Injury?
I had an accident around 1.5 months ago and since then i am unable to bend my knee. Recently the doctor removed some pale yellow color fluid from my knee as knee aspiration and looks like swelling has come back. Am still unable to bend my knee fully and swelling has not gone fully. Any advise on what type of injury is this and how may it recover?
The yellow fluid aspirated from knee indicates underlying inflammation post trauma status in form of joint effusion. The internal pathology can be involving damage to underlying cartilage, synovium, ligament or else. Kindly discuss the need of an MRI of the knee joint for definite diagnosis and care accordingly as this can lead to chronic disability of the joint function.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
