Hi,
Pain following
knee replacement surgery has a wide spectrum of aetiologies. The cause can be the knee
prosthesis, a
nerve or it could be vascular too. In a recent study, 15% out of every 100 who underwent knee replacement has severe and persistent pain. Let's see what are the possible causes for your pain and what we can do to alleviate it.
1) Pain swelling and bruising is a part of the natural recovery process following knee replacement.
2) A stronger painkiller like opioids can help to relieve your pain.
3) Elevate your legs, try placing pillows higher than your hip level it will help you out.
4) Take adequate rest if you are doing any strenuous activity.
5) Tibial neuropathy mostly resolves on its own, but it will take its own course of time for it.
6) If nothing works surgical options will be the last resort for it, don't worry about going to the operating room again as most pain relieving surgeries works like a charm for pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
