Hello,
Few causes of palpitations in a kid are most of the times not harmful. They are increased metabolic rate like fever, catecholamines release like stress and anxiety, drug induced, hyperventilation,
postural orthostatic tachycardia, premature atrial contractions, and premature ventricular contractions.
Serious causes include myocarditis,
hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypoglycemia, and pheochromocytoma. Photosensitive disorders in children are idiopathic, or related to nutritional, genetic, metabolic or
connective tissue diseases. If it is associated with headaches, we must think of
migraine headache, cluster headache etc. Kindly
consult a pediatrician for thorough clinical examination and necessary tests to diagnose the cause and appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
