What Causes Severe Right-sided Abdominal Pain?

I have abdominal pain in a unique place, my right side, just below middle-right rib cage, appears to be 2+\- higher than appendix. My doctor thinks it s a gastritis problem, but the last day or so I m experiencing a 30% increase in pain and it s recently getting worse. I think it might be a peptic ulcer. What is it?
