What Causes Severe Rosacea After Taking Dexilant?

yes, i was taking high doses of dexilant and other antacids as prescribed by my dr. I had a severe breakdown 10 months ago and no longer take these meds I immediately got severe Rosacea, buring of the skin and swollen capullaries. Over the past tenmonths that has subsided, but still exists if i eat something my stomache can t tolereate . I now also have developed rapid heart beat and extreme flaring if ingesting my stomache can t tolerate . What can this be and what type of dr do I see. It s very debilitating.

Hi,

I have read your query. I have seen rosacea patients, but till now there is no documented proof anywhere that Dexilant causes rosacea or flares it up. Dexilant is Dexlansoprazole, it just inhibits acid secretion by binding to proton pumps in the stomach. For rosacea here we prescribe Doxycycline which works really well. You can do the following measures:
1) Have soft bland diet.
2) Do not drink water or any fluids while having food.
3) Do mild to moderate workout.
4) Do not lay down immediately after food.
5) Avoid junk food as much as possible.
6) For rosacea consider Doxycycline which works effectively.
7) Avoid triggers which cause rosacea.
8) If nothing works out consult your dermatologist and ask for vascular laser its the last resort.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Moses John Wesley,
