What Causes Severe Vomiting And Acid Reflux After Hiatus Hernia Surgery?

I had a hiatus hernia surgery with mesh a week ago and feeling sick to my stomach. I have been throwing up after I eat food and do not feel like eating. I can not lay on my side without feeling sick and have reflux too. Is this normal after surgery and is this part of the recover processes ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
These symptoms of reflux will take some weeks to resolve after the surgery. If however problamatic or causing lifestyle disturbance then a Proton pump inhibitor drug (Omeprazole) and motility enhancer (Metoclopramide) can be used for short term. Avoid straining activities that cause undue pressure on incision site for atleast 3 months. Consume semisolid easily digestable diet.
