What Causes Severe Vomiting And Loose Stools?

My wife and I went to dinner last night. About four hours later she started vomiting with watery stool. She stated that the vomit had an extreme salty taste and now she is presenting with inflamation on her tongue and soft palete. What could this be? R/O fish or spicy foods!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

She is experiencing food poisoning. Give her plenty of fluids especially plain water and oral rehydration salts to replace lost electrolytes and fluids.

Give Tasectan or Pepto Bismol to stop diarrhea. Anti-nausea Ginger can help with her stomach upset and vomiting. Give antacids to stabilize stomach pH. This acidic pH has caused her tongue and palate to get inflammation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
