What Causes Sharp Abdominal Pain While On Bactrim For Kidney Infection?

Hi, I have one kidney, left side and was just diagnosed with e. Coli/kidney infection, I was prescribed Bactrim DS on my 3rd day and im experiencing sharp pains in my side thru the kidney..and fighting back vomiting with a major headache on left side, when should I be concerned? I ve been hospitalized in the past with pyelonephritis and urosepsis

It is possible that the infection is responding to the antibiotics used. By the third day of antibiotics the symptoms should be decreasing not worsening.

It would be best to see your doctor for an assessment which would include a repeat urinalysis and a sample to the lab to recheck bacteria sensitivities (this means determining which antibiotics would best treat the infection).

A different antibiotic is likely needed.
