Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a sharp burning type pain in my upper abdomen. It feels as though it's near the surface of the skin and the skin above the pain is completely numb. The pain is localized above the lower most rib and about an inch and a half from the sturnum. The numb surface skin is about two inches in diameter. I have had the pain for a few years but it has recently been getting much worse and more frequesnt. Mostly when I'm sitting. A stretch can often make the pain lessen.

What Causes Sharp Burning Pain In The Abdomen?
Hi and welcome to HCM, Do you have pain or a burning sensation in the upper abdomen that is either relieved or gets worse when you eat? This may be from gastritis, an irritation of the stomach, or from an ulcer. Do you have sudden sharp pain that starts in the back near the ribs and moves down toward the groin? Then your pain may be from a kidney stone. If you have a fever, you may have a kidney or bladder infection. Detailed investigation is required. Consult your doctor. Wish you speedy recovery
